Hormiguero de Torcoroma ProAves Reserve is located within the geographical province of Ocaña, which is regionally characterized by its rich environmental offerings. In October 2006, ProAves acquired this conservation area with the purpose of protecting the Recurve-billed Bushbird (Clytoctantes alixii), a species that is endangered.

Among the most important birds in the Reserve are the Recurve-billed Bushbird (Clytoctantes alixii), the Black-fronted Wood-Quail (Odontophorus atrifrons), the Gray-throated Warbler (Basileuterus cinereicollis), the White-rimmed Brushfinch (Atlapetes albofrenatus), and the Golden-breasted Fruiteater (Pipreola aureopectus).

Additionally, characteristic mammals such as the Lowland Paca (Agouti paca), the Brown-throated Sloth (Bradypus variegatus), the Woolly Opossum (Caluromys lanatus), and the Kinkajou (Potos flavus), among others, can be found.

Location

The Reserve is located in the village of Agua de la Virgen, in the district of the same name, in the municipality of Ocaña, department of Norte de Santander, Colombia. It is situated in a small patch of preserved forest in the region, where the Recurve-billed Bushbird resides.
